You have probably heard that you should sell your house in the Spring or Summer. Does that matter these days? Short answer: no.
As you are probably aware – it is a seller’s market and will probably remain so for a few more months. Many experts in various real estate markets in the country forecast that this trend will not slow down rapidly or go away any time soon.
With that being said – consumer demand for housing in years past has typically been higher in the spring and summer. Makes sense considering that people are more likely to go to various showings when the weather is nicer (Plus no one wants to move all their stuff when it’s cold if they don’t have to). As a seller you can still take advantage of this seasonal uptick in demand. Clean and make the house attractive at least a month in advance. When spring or summer rolls around, you’re ready to sell.
If you’re looking to buy soon – still be aware that the uptick in demand will most likely occur in the spring and summer. While you may be paying over market now, it could possibly worse in those seasons since you are now competing with more people to buy a home. There may be more houses available but it will be no where it needs to be in order for the market to equalize. Especially in Huntsville, Birmingham, and the surrounding areas, inventory is flying off the shelf.
While the real estate market has been crazy and will most likely continue to be crazy, there are moments of opportunity that you can use to your advantage.
